Which tiles to choose?<\/span><\/h3>\n

\n<\/span>So,<\/span> we opt for porcelain tiles<\/b>. This type of ceramic is very dense, with a porosity of less than 0.5%, making it practically impermeable. When properly installed on a concrete slab, a tiled basement can withstand a major flood or water damage. Which membranes to use?<\/span><\/h3>\n


\n<\/b>To make your floor waterproof, choose the Schluter\u00ae-DITRA waterproofing membrane<\/a>. <\/b>This membrane is designed to be installed under ceramic tiles on the floor. It creates a separation layer between the tile and the substrate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nicolas Costard, our Sales Manager at La Tuilerie, explains: “Decoupling is like placing a carpet between the floor and the tiles. This special carpet allows the floor to move slightly without breaking or cracking the tiles above. It acts like a cushion that protects the tiles from floor movements, but most importantly, it protects against moisture.”<\/span><\/p>\n
