Solid wood
Solid wood floors are made of 100% wood. They are a solid and durable floor covering. They can last for decades. Their style remains timeless, yet unique thanks to the natural knots in the wood.
Solid wood is suitable for the ground and upper floors of homes. It can occasionally be refinished rather than replaced. Installing solid wood is simple: you can use either the stapled or nailed method. However, this type of flooring is not compatible with underfloor heating.

Engineered wood
Engineered wood, a relatively new material in the flooring industry, consists of a layer of hardwood glued to a plywood base (it’s definitely part of the larger hardwood family!). Engineered wood has exceptional qualities that allow it to be installed in conditions where traditional solid wood can’t. Did you know that it’s possible to install engineered wood on a cement slab, such as in a basement or condo? Unlike solid wood flooring, engineered wood is a little more forgiving and can withstand varying humidity levels.
In addition to the unique finishes and colors available for this flooring, engineered wood can even be installed on wall surfaces. The great advantage of engineered wood is undoubtedly that it can be compatible with a heated floor system! This type of material needs less air to breathe than solid wood.

The finishes of our wood floors
All hardwood floors can be pre-finished or oiled.
Read our tips to help you decide between oiled and varnished hardwood floors!
Pre-varnished wood
Every year, we offer innovative trends for your wood flooring. Maintaining varnished wood is easier and much less frequent than oiled hardwood. Varnished hardwood is durable and highly resistant to wear, abrasion, and scratches. Wood varnish also provides anti-yellowing and antimicrobial properties to your floors.
The range of finishes for varnished floors ranges from ultra-matte to semi-gloss. Find the style, trend, and wood species that meets your needs.

Oil-Infused Hardwood Floors
For a choice that is both responsible and beautifully refined, oil-infused hardwood floors represent a contemporary approach to real wood. Plant-based oils penetrate deep into the wood fibers rather than sealing the surface, allowing the material to breathe, evolve, and naturally adapt to its environment. This permeability enhances dimensional stability and contributes to long-term durability.
Oil-infused finishes also offer a unique advantage: they allow the floor to evolve over time. Through targeted touch-ups and localized maintenance, the surface can be refreshed, certain areas restored, or the tone subtly adjusted — without intrusive sanding or lengthy downtime. This freedom is intrinsic to Permabois oil-infused floors.
Among their many benefits is a high resistance to everyday wear, along with the ability to be renewed indefinitely without compromising the wood’s natural textures. The soft, matte, silky sheen reveals the depth of the grain and the richness of the material.
Maintenance remains simple and accessible, while giving designers and homeowners exceptional control over the floor’s appearance through the years. An oil-infused floor does not simply age — it matures.
A material designed for spaces meant to endure, evolve, and remain beautiful.
